Ex-Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Trade, Industries and Cooperatives,Ms Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa will soon laugh at her enemies, following reports that President Museveni has tasked his trusted intelligence to follow up on mega corruption saga where Geraldine is believed to have been framed by political mafias.

Geraldine is currently facing accountability related charges in court, but reports continue to confirm that these charges are politically motivated and are masterminded by corruption racket comprising high profile leaders who accuse her of disrupting their dirty deals.

She served as Permanent Secretary Trade,Industries and Cooperatives Ministry as appointed by President Museveni, from July 2021 to July 2024 when mafias fought her.  She previously served as Deputy Managing Director National Social Security Fund-NSSF 2011 – 2017 and other leadership positions.

The mafias teamed up and framed her in over Ugx160 billion farmers house and cooperatives compensation funds scandal. She is still in court amid reports that she was targeted.

According to sources, the racket fighting Geraldine include Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, Mbarara City South MP Mwine Mpaka who fueled concocted accusations as then Chairperson Committee of Trade Industry and tourism in the 11th Parliament, then Cabinet Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Francis Mwebesa, current State Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives David Bahati,  former Speaker Anita Among and others.

Following reports that President Museveni has again picked interest in rescuing ‘her girl’ Geraldine, the said mafias have now resorted to mobilizing cooperatives to testify against her though they are still facing setback, because most cooperatives are dominated by politicians including members of parliament.

Hon Mwine Mpaka and his group have also been accused of misleading the committee and making decisions without seeking other stakeholders’ opinions.
